How To Draw Lobster

videotutorialbannerNEW

Today you'll learn how to draw Lobster. Most likely you already know how to eat lobster, so it is about time to learn to draw it too.

Everyone knows lobster as delicious and kinda luxurious seafood. But did you know that Lobsters are a very important sea cleaning animal?

This drawing of Lobster may not look like one of the easiest for beginners, but if you diligently follow the tutorial you will absolutely learn how to draw Lobster with ease.

Basically, the shape of Lobster's body is very simple.

Let's Learn How To Draw Lobster

I should maybe chose the top view of the Lobster for this drawing, like we did in crab tutorial.

But, let's just take this challenge and let's draw this side view posture.

Sketch these weird shapes, I don't even know how to properly name these two shapes.

It represents the rough outline of the Lobster's body and the tail.

Outline the claws and the tail fan. Do all the rough outline sketches by pushing the pencil very gently because you'll be erasing almost all these lines later.

Sketch the tail parts and the spiky parts on Lobster's head.

Lobsters have 8 legs. From the side view, the legs are a bit difficult to see clearly.
First, you only outline the legs by single pencil lines, by one stroke. In a similar fashion sketch the antennas too.

On claws, outline the approximate shape of each claw.
This is the step, where you have the basic rough sketch, basic contours of your Lobster drawing ready. You've learned how to draw lobster in its very rough form. From this step forward you are going to refine each part separately.

Flesh out the legs, the antennas. Sketch the eyes.

The initial pencil lines are becoming more and more obstructive now. You can erase where necessary.

A pen shaped eraser comes very handy here.

Continue erasing the initial pencil guidelines.
When erasing work is done, take a well-sharpened pencil and draw a clean distinct contour line as you see on the picture.

Refine the details on every contour. Notice that some parts on claws are having a jagged surface. Just sketch these shapes approximately, it is not necessary to draw them exactly as you see here.

Now you have a crisp clean basic contour drawing of Lobster for the coloring page.

Shade each part of Lobster's body carefully. If you wish to use color pencils, go ahead and use them; otherwise, just shade the drawing approximately the same way as this one.

You've mastered the technique of how to draw lobster.
I recommend to RE-draw it again to memorize it better.
