How to Draw Cartoon Kitten

videotutorialbannerNEW

Here, I show you how to draw cartoon kitten. The steps in this tutorial are very simple and easy to follow.

Before you begin to draw observe the picture carefully, this is important. If this pose of playing kitten looks too complicated, then try to draw the sitting kitty first.

The secret of your drawing success is hidden in careful observation. Let’s begin :)

Notice the posture of this kitty: playful, surprising pose, watching the small bee.

Obviously, the small bee seems to be upset. As if the bee wanted to say: I'll teach you a lesson

Also, notice the surprised expression of the kitty’s face; especially notice the eyes, the mouth.

Let's Draw This Cute Cartoon Kitten With A Little Bee

Draw a circle and a “noodle” - approximately the same as in this picture. The circle represents the kitty’s head and the noodle is the body.

The size of the circle and the noodle determines the size of the head and the body of your kitty.

Draw the legs. Just draw them as you see them in this picture.

Now, let's begin to outline the face and the head. To keep the symmetry of both sides of the face, draw two crossing lines.

The vertical line is straight and the horizontal is curved. These two lines will be our guidelines when drawing the face details.

Erase the part of the body-noodle that enters the head circle.Draw two ellipses in the same angle and size sitting on the curved horizontal line.

Draw them approximately at the same distance from each other as you see in this picture. The space between them is necessary for the kitty’s nose :)
On both upper sides of the head draw quarter-circles. These will be the place for ears.

See, the whole process of drawing the cartoon kitten is pretty simple. The point is to know the sequence.

Draw an inner ellipse inside each eye (this will be the iris). Here, you should have enough space between the eyes for the nose. Draw two smaller ellipses and the tip of the nose.

Draw the outer silhouette of the head. Notice that both sides of the kitty’s face are wider. Draw the ears and the tail.

Now, you will need a soft pencil (B4 or softer) to draw the outer contours. Draw a distinct outer contour of the entire kitty as you see in the picture.

Work out the rest of the kitty’s nose and draw a small opened mouth. Notice that the mouth is tear-shaped because this kitty is surprised :)

Draw the eyebrows. Now you can erase all help-guide-lines you made in the beginning. Use eraser or pencil-type-eraser as necessary.

Darken the outer side of the ears and the tail. Work out the eyes and mouth. Slightly shade the whole body.
Leave white parts white as you see in the picture. Paws, nose, belly, and inner part on ears. Now your kitty is complete. You’ve successfully learned how to draw cartoon kittens.

To make this drawing more interesting, let’s draw a small bee that makes this kitty surprised.

Draw a small circle and (again) a noodle. The circle is the head and the noodle is the belly (body).

Draw the wings and lines on the back of the bee’s body.

This small bee is upset somehow. Draw its legs and arms. Draw the bee’s nose and the eye, the same way as on the picture.

Darken the bee’s feet, hands, and the back part of the bee’s head. Draw the antennas and the sting on the bee’s back.

…yes, you've probably noticed…I forgot to draw the kitty’s whiskers :) So here they are.
