"Be like water my friend". This inspirational saying of Bruce Lee can be applied not only in martial arts where the meaning is to learn skills from different martial arts: adapting with different styles. But also in art. So you do not limit yourself to only one particular style but you learn different.

That is why I do not make only ballpoint pen portraits but also other styles like cross hatching etc. And not only portrait but also drawing of buildings, cats, planes and animals. And also cartoons, calligraphy and hand lettering. Once I have interest in something then I can develop obsession for it.

This obsession is a good one since when you deeply love something, then you learn in an easier way and much more quickly. I honestly think that we are all artists but just that most of us have not develop it. Am saying this because art in general have so many styles and its logically impossible for a person not to be skillful in at least one particular style or branch.

For e.g, one can be not skillful in painting portrait but is at ease with pencil drawing. One can be not at ease with pencil drawing but is very talented with ballpoint pen. One can find drawing portrait as a nightmare but is very at ease with drawing or painting of landscape. So I think to find a man with no artistic ability at all, then this is apparently impossible.

I also love the famous saying by Bruce Lee: "be like a water". We can apply this in everywhere, not only in martial art.
And yes, making good art is all about careful observation and developing the ability to see what is inside of the object we draw not so much the outside appearance.
