well he told us from the edge (the outer part of the drawing) to go from dark to light to make a shadow effect making all dark lines disapear n fade in to a light center. he said there are 10 important shades 1 being almost white and a ten being midnight black he made us do on a scale 1-10 to show us how to do it then let us shade.
